1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how ProofPay (“ProofPay,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you access or use our mobile applications, website, services, and task verification platform (collectively, the “Platform”). By creating an account or using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect several categories of information to provide, maintain, and secure our verified marketplace:
- Account & Profile Information: When you register, we collect your email address, display name, account role (Performer or Sponsor), encrypted password hash, avatar/profile image, and biographical notes.
- Real-World Sensor & Telemetry Data: During active task verification sessions initiated by Performers, the mobile app collects sensor data requested by the task criteria:
- Location & GPS: Geographic coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude, accuracy, speed, heading), route breadcrumbs, geofence radius containment, and dwell time.
- Motion & Activity: Pedometer step counts, cadence, and windowed accelerometer/gyroscope movement intensity summaries. We do not continuously record raw sensor streams; we process windowed statistical summaries to protect your privacy and conserve device battery.
- Visual Proof (Photos & Video): Photos and videos recorded through the in-app camera or attached as task completion evidence, along with timestamp metadata.
- Financial & Payment Information:
- Stripe Connect Account Data: Connected Stripe Express account identifiers (`acct_...`), payout eligibility, and onboarding completion status (`charges_enabled`). ProofPay does not store or process your bank account numbers or debit/credit card numbers directly; all payment credentials are encrypted and handled by Stripe.
- Escrow & Payout Records: Task funding amounts, application service fees, Stripe processing fees, net performer earnings, transaction receipts, and payout timestamps.
- Reputation & Reviews: 1–5 star ratings, written feedback comments, task history, and trust scores.
- Device & Log Information: Device model, operating system version, network connection status, IP address, and crash reports.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following legitimate business and marketplace purposes:
- Verifying Real-World Tasks: Evaluating sensor telemetry, geofence compliance, dwell duration, and photos/videos against task requirements to generate verification confidence scores.
- Automated Escrow Releases: Powering our automated verified-to-paid state machine that unlocks escrowed bounties when verification criteria are met.
- Platform Fee Deductions: Calculating and deducting the 10% ProofPay platform service fee and applicable Stripe card processing fees from the gross task reward upon escrow settlement.
- Facilitating Marketplace Interactions: Enabling Performers and Sponsors to discover listings, submit offers, communicate, and review task proof.
- Reputation & Trust: Publishing mutual ratings and written feedback on user profiles to maintain a safe, high-integrity marketplace.
- Security & Abuse Prevention: Detecting fraudulent activity, GPS spoofing, synthetic media, and unauthorized account access.
- Legal & Tax Compliance: Maintaining transaction receipts, complying with IRS Form 1099-K reporting requirements, and addressing disputes.
4. Platform Fees and Financial Disclosures
ProofPay operates a two-sided verified task marketplace with transparent pricing:
- 10% Platform Service Fee: ProofPay retains a 10% platform service fee of the gross task bounty in exchange for verification processing, escrow custody administration, and marketplace infrastructure.
- Payment Processing: Card payments and payouts are fulfilled via Stripe Connect Direct Charges. The Performer is the merchant of record for task earnings and pays the standard Stripe card processing fee (2.9% + $0.30 per successful card transaction).
- Example: On a $100.00 funded task reward, the Sponsor deposits $100.00. Upon verified completion, ProofPay receives $10.00 (10%), Stripe card processing fees are $3.20, and the Performer receives the net remaining $86.80 directly into their bank account.
- ProofPay Pro Subscription: Optional auto-renewing subscriptions ($4.99/month) for advanced sensor verification recipes and reports are billed and managed through Apple App Store (StoreKit) or Google Play Billing via RevenueCat.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal information to third parties. We share information only under these specific conditions:
- With Task Counterparts: Task sponsors receive access to verification reports containing the sensor telemetry, photos, and video proof submitted for their funded task. User profile pages display trust scores, reviews, and completed task tallies.
- With Payment & Infrastructure Service Providers:
- Stripe: For payment processing, direct charges, escrow holds, and direct deposit payouts under Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: For in-app subscription receipt validation and entitlement management.
- Supabase / Cloud Storage: For encrypted cloud storage of task proof media.
- For Legal & Regulatory Compliance: When required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety, rights, and property of our users or the public.
6. Data Security and Retention
We implement administrative, technical, and physical security measures to safeguard your information, including HTTPS encryption in transit, cryptographic signed storage URLs, and database-level role permissions. Sensor verification logs and payment receipts are retained for historical recordkeeping, accounting, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.
7. Your Privacy Rights & Choices
You have control over your data within ProofPay:
- Location & Camera Permissions: You can grant or revoke location, camera, microphone, or motion sensor access anytime through your mobile device operating system settings. Revoking access will prevent the app from capturing the corresponding sensor proof required for certain tasks.
- Access & Correction: You may review and update your profile information, display name, and avatar directly in the app.
- Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and personal information by contacting support at support@proofpay.app, subject to legal and financial retention obligations for completed transactions.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Platform is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered an account, please contact us immediately.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy and notify users through the Platform or via email when material updates occur.
